Pilgrim Fellowship

The Youth Groups of Orange Congregational Church

“PF” stands for Pilgrim Fellowship and its purpose is to have fun, serve others and to be an active part of the Church.  We engage the youth of the church (ages 10-18) in programs and activities that promote loving and serving one another, our community, and our world; involvement in the life and worship of the Orange Congregational Church; and sharing in fun and fellowship together.   The PF consists of three groups:  the 5th & 6th PF Pioneers who meet once a month, the Junior PF (7th, 8th, and 9th graders) who meet 3-4 times a month, and the Senior PF (10th, 11th and 12th graders) who meet 2 or more times a month depending on the time of year.  Throughout the year we will attempt to balance our activities to meet the goals through service projects, spiritual events, and fun group activities. All PF groups are led by the Youth Director, Beth Rafferty, who is responsible for planning and organizing activities that help achieve the youth program goal.

A general permission slip must be signed by parents for each PF participant that will apply to most activities throughout the year.  From time to time, additional specific permission slips will be required for special events (like skiing or traveling out of state).  Friends are always welcome to join our activities and must also fill out a permission slip. If there is a limitation on how many people can attend an event, then church members will have first priority over guests.  For this reason, it is very important that you let me know as soon as possible if you plan to participate in an activity, so we have enough room for everyone and enough drivers.  The success of our activities depends not only on the participation of our youth, but also the support of parents.  Parents should encourage their children to participate, and plan to participate themselves!  I’m sure everyone will find it an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

YOUTH UNITED OF HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CFC

Due to our steadfast support of Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (http://www.habitatcfc.org/), we have helped raise the needed funds for Youth United to co-sponsor and start building a house in Bridgeport.  The house we will be building will be located either on Hallet or Kossuth Street and construction should begin this fall and continue through the coming year.  We still need to raise more funds to keep the building process going, but we have enough to at start the foundation and construction process.

This is a very exciting time for us, and I know everyone would like to participate in the workdays.  Here is a list of the up-coming Youth United Habitat Workdays for this year. There may be additional days available as well, so I will keep you informed if anything new dates come up.  There is a limited amount of teenagers who can participate during a workday, so if you know what dates you would like to work, please sign-up quickly.
